Clarissa and George visited Monterey and Big Sur on vacation a few years prior to getting engaged. They fell in love with California's rocky oceanside views, endless adventure, towering red woods and, most importantly, the unforgettable memories they made there together. When it was time to begin their wedding planning, the couple knew they wanted to bring their closest family and friends to their favorite place for a destination wedding weekend.

The couple hosted their family and friends in Monterey, California, showing them favorite places like the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, and Peter B's Brewpub.

The ceremony was planned to take place at Garrapata State Park with picturesque oceanside views, followed by a chartered scenic drive down the 1 for a cozy reception at Big Sur River Inn. At least, that was the plan. The record rainfall California has been receiving began the weekend of C+G's wedding. The couple had to put their contingency plan in motion as Mother Nature decided to make their wedding day a rainy one.

While putting a contingency plan into motion is not ideal, the day came together beautifully for the couple. They had an intimate candlelit ceremony and reception. It took place on the cozy Big Sur River Inn covered patio, with sounds of rain drops splashing the tin roof, red woods as their backdrop, warm fires heating the space, and their family and friends' love surrounding them. It was a perfectly imperfect day and I think the rain brought them all the best luck for a bright future together.
